MGM Poker Room

MGM Grand Casino Poker Room

MGM Grand Poker Las VegasIf comfort, luxury, and room to move are a priority during your poker games, the poker cardroom at the MGM Grand Casino and Resort is the place for you. Opened in 2005, this poker room has been rated one of the best for poker playing on the Las Vegas strip, citing those three things as the biggest advantages of playing here.

MGM’s card room is a non-smoking establishment open twenty-four hours a day for the convenience of their guests. The tables are nice with a marble ‘racetrack’ around the edge that is great for chip stacking. The room itself is spacious and allows for plenty of walking space between the twenty-two tables located there. Guests can be treated to a tableside meal or a tableside massage from one of the licensed therapists on staff.

All of the tables at the MGM poker room are equipped with automatic shufflers, built in drink holders, and easy to see yellow commitment lines. Dealers are equipped with a state of the art control center that will allow them to summon a waitress, track player’s comps, and alert the manager that there is a seat free at their table for the next player.

MGM Grand Poker Games

While the MGM will spread any version of poker that has enough interest, Texas Hold’Em poker is the most widely spread game room in both limit and no-limit varieties.

Stakes

Stakes start at $1/$2, $2/$5, and $5/$10 with the occasional $2/$4, $3/$6, and $4/$8. Buy-ins starts at $100/$200, $200/$500 and $500 minimum. The $2/$5 with a $300 maximum buy in no-limit games seem to be the most widely played versions in the room and are appealing to the beginner and mid-level player. This is also one of the few rooms that will offer a ½ and full kill pot.

Tournaments

Sit’N’Go tournaments are rare at the MGM unless they have ten players sign up for them. These are almost always run per demand and the buy in costs $60.00. That money pays the top two or three players at the tables. There are two regular no limit Hold’Em tourneys held at the poker room. Monday through Friday at 11am is the daily freezeout event with a $65 buy in. The Sunday through Thursday freezeouts start at 6pm with a $125 buy in. There are Sunday through Friday Texas Hold’Em no limit tournaments being held as well.

With a computerized wait list in place, players just need to add their name to the list and they are given a beeper that will let them know when a table is ready. Las Vegas has plenty to offer, so this is one of the great features about this room. It allows players to explore the hotels other amenities and kill time instead of just standing around waiting to be called by the poker room manager. The games are appealing to all levels of players and with the comfort factor built into this spacious card room, it is no wonder there is an average waiting time of sixty minutes just to sit at a table.
