The Mirage Poker Room

The Mirage - Vegas Poker

Mirage Poker VegasPoker is a game of skill as much as it is a game of luck. If you are new to the Las Vegas strip and you are looking for a good poker room to play at, try the one at The Mirage Casino and Hotel. You play against other players and the only thing the dealers do is make sure the game runs in a professional manner. Management takes care of all the players in their card room and ensures that all the games are played fairly. It is also one of the few on the strip that spreads more than just Texas Hold and Omaha.

The Mirage’s poker cardroom contains thirty tables in a smoke free environment. It is well lit with a great ambience to it. It’s very well spaced with two brush podiums, but when it is very crowded, players tend to say it feels cramped. The competition is pretty tough at the Mirage and the $6/$12 Texas Hold’Em games seem to be the toughest ones in Vegas. Waits can be up to an hour during peak playing time, but the management staff can handle the waiting list with the best of them. The service for drinks is a bit slow also during peak times, but if you are one the players still in the room after 4am, you do get treated to some great sandwiched from the casino kitchen. Players can take advantage of poker lessons from 5pm to 1am as well.

Mirage Poker Games

The poker room at The Mirage spreads Texas Hold’Em, Omaha, and Seven Card Stud. The spreads and stakes are killer. Limit Texas Hold’Em ranges from $3/$6, $4/$8, $6/$12, $10/$20, $20/$40, $40/$80 and higher if the players request it at the high-end tables and with managerial approval. Blinds on the no limit Texas Hold’Em tables start at $1/$2, $2/$5 and higher with buy-ins at $200/$500. Omaha tables are $5/$10 eights or better and $10/$20 eights or better. The $5/$10 games are with full kill and the $10/$20 are with half kill or higher options and also come in pot limit or straight limit. Seven Card Stud spreads at $1/$4, $5/$10 and higher per managerial approval.

Tournaments at The Mirage include Sit ‘N’ Go’s with $70, $115, and $175 buy-ins. This casino card room has standing list for these tournaments and the fill up quickly, especially on the weekends. There are always two winners at these tournaments. No limit Texas Hold’Em tournaments run from Sunday to Thursday with a buy-in of $100 + 25 for 3,000 of starting chips on Sunday at 5pm. The rounds are held in thirty minute intervals and all of them begin with a $25/$50 blind. Monday through Wednesday the tournaments start at 7pm with a buy-in of $100 + 25 for 2,500 chips, and $200 + 30 for 3,000 chips on Tuesdays. There are no re-buys or add-ins on these tournaments and players can get on the satellite games for these tournaments and Sundays and Tuesdays.

Comps at The Mirage’s poker room are not very good and players will have to ask the manager for the comp meal vouchers after the required length of play. Rooms are also comped for players staying at The Mirage at four hours of play and six hours of play.
