O'Sheas Poker RoomO’Shea’s Las Vegas Casino Poker Room
O’Shea’s poker room is small with a total of five tables, four in the actual poker room and one, of course, inside the front door. The unique positioning of that table allows pedestrians passing by to pause and observe whatever game happens to be going on at the moment. If you are wondering just how small the poker room really is, ponder this: if you are a smoker and want a smoke while playing, all you have to do is stand up and take two steps back from you table. As a matter of fact, the poker room is right next to O’Shea’s bar, so catching the attention of the bartender is pretty easy. For the most part, though, the dealers and wait staff are good at their jobs and they cater to the beginner players that enjoy frequenting this lively establishment. The poker room at O’Shea’s opens at 11:00am daily and closes at 5:00am the next morning during the week. It’s open 24 hours on the weekend. The spread at the tables at this card room is Texas Hold’Em, although players who are interested in other games can get one going if there is enough interest. This is one of the few casino poker rooms that also have a spread limit of $1/$5 with a blind of $1. O'Sheas Poker Games and LimitsWhile small, O’Shea’s does have a decent tournament schedule. The tournaments are held daily from 1:00pm, 5:00pm, 9:00pm, and midnight. Entry fees for the tournaments are $45 with no re-buys, but there is a single $5 add-on for $2,000 worth of chips. This card room, however, rakes in $15 of the $50 you pay to play and the rest goes into the prize pool. Game of choice? Texas Hold’Em. The tournaments are limited to twenty-seven players and the blinds increase every 20 minutes, starting at $25/$50, $50/$100, $75/$150, $100/$200, $200/$400 and higher in that pattern. Comps at O’Shea’s are the same as what is offered at the Flamingo. The management at the two casinos are the same. If you have a Player’s Club card, you will receive a $1 comp per hour you play. If you don’t have one, you can easily get one by inquiring at the player’s club window or asking an O’Shea’s employee for some help. An interesting side note about O’Shea’s besides their odd entrance poker table is the tattoo parlor inside the casino proper. Opening by Vince Neil of the rock band Motley Crue in 2006, tourists and visitors in Las Vegas can watch the artist work through a huge window outside the casino as they walk by. And if you need a Whopper fix, O’Shea’s is the home to the only Burger King found on the strip. |
