to teach thinking skills. Pretty interesting stuff.

The poker room of the future has arrived. No cards, no dealer, no
chips. Everything is handled with PokerPro software from PokerTek.
Pretty interesting stuff, and I'm surprised this kind of thing
hasn't caught on sooner.

Gambling 911
Claims that Absolute Poker could become the safest poker room online
after this debacle. One of the sillier pieces they've published yet.
Gambling 911 is almost a parody of a gambling news site. They've
been called the National Enquirer of gambling, but they
remind me more of the Weekly World News.
Cardplayer
High Stakes Poker sets another record. The November 5, 2007 episode
will have $5 million on the table. Doyle Brunson, Antonio Esfandiari,
Daniel Negreanu, Jamie Gold, Sammy Farha, David Benyamine, Barry
Greenstein, Patrick Antonius, and Guy Laliberte will be playing.

Associated Press
Harvard lawyer Charless Nesson forms the Global Poker Strategic
Thinking Society and wants the US government to overturn or amend
the UIGEA law. Nesson is known for defending the man who leaked the
Pentagon Papers, and he was the subject of a movie called A Civil
Action. There is also some interesting commentary in
Reason magazine about how we shouldn't try to legalize vices by
claiming that they're uplifting.

Barry Greenstein is predicting the full return of online poker. (Of
course, Greenstein is just another poker player with an opinion, but
we'll see. I hope he's right, anyway.)

The Venetian has announced the 2008 Deep Stack Extravaganza. The
Deep Stack Extravaganza consists of 2 tournaments a year at the
Venetian poker room. The tournaments will be played in February and
June.

As if Absolute Poker didn't have enough problems already, the New
York Times reports a publicity company's complaint about
Absolute Poker not paying their bills. |
